Cutting 12 Hours Non-stop With Exceptional Quality Thanks to the Eagle eVision

1964 company founded
10 kW Eagle eVision fiber laser
4 × 2 m machine table format
12 h/day stable daily production

A Legacy Forged in Craftsmanship

Goodman Metalworks began as a small family enterprise in Nottingham in 1964, born from the partnership of an artist and a blacksmith.

The business started with bespoke wrought iron work, from crematorium gates to university gates, before evolving into a larger engineering operation.

Over the decades, Goodman Metalworks became a leading fabrication and engineering company, employing around 82 people and generating annual revenue of around £10 million. Today the company serves sectors ranging from quarrying and metal structures to aerospace, oil and gas, and power generation, with high-profile clients including Lufthansa, Komatsu, and Vulcan.

“We’re a one-stop shop. Fabrication, machining, assembly, painting — it’s all under one roof.” Goodman Metalworks

When Reliability Became the Bottleneck

As Goodman Metalworks grew and diversified, the pressure to deliver consistent quality on time increased. Their existing first-generation fiber laser began to threaten that promise.

Challenge

An unreliable laser threatened delivery promises

The team was forced to focus on fixing the machine instead of manufacturing, creating risk for customers that depended on on-time delivery.

A New Era of Confidence and Future Growth

Since installation, the change has been transformative. The Eagle eVision 10 kW runs from six in the morning to six at night, 12 hours a day, without problems. Cut quality is consistent even on harder materials and imperfect plates, giving Goodman Metalworks greater confidence in daily production.

The team particularly values the MyESP remote service system, which connects them with Eagle technicians in Poland. Improved reliability and cutting speed have reduced reliance on plasma, streamlined production, and reinforced Goodman Metalworks’ reputation for precision and punctuality. Looking ahead, the company sees further opportunity to move more work onto laser cutting with higher power and a larger table.
