BIP Distribution Laser

BIP Distribution Laser - Blaye, France

By integrating an eTower 110 into their fiber laser ecosystem, BIP Distribution Laser was able to run a night shift, start unattended production automatically, and ensure parts and fresh material are available year-round.

From in-house needs to a growing laser-cutting business

BIP Distribution Laser, part of the B.I.P. Group, first introduced laser cutting to support its own production and later expanded the service to public and private customers.

The B.I.P. Group also includes Perolo, a manufacturer of industrial valves. Its capabilities extend beyond laser cutting to threading, milling, welding, bending, and assembly.

After acquiring its first laser cutter in 2008 and later adding a second, the company faced the limits of aging equipment, restricted material versatility, and a facility that was becoming too small. BIP decided to invest in a new machine and relocate to a larger facility in Saint-Marien, closer to major transport routes.

“Our building was becoming too small and our machines were aging, so the idea emerged to purchase a new one—and, most importantly, move to a new building closer to major transportation routes.” Catherine Lentz, Site Manager, BIP Distribution Laser

What changed after the Eagle eVision installation

The Eagle eVision 1540 10 kW gave BIP the speed required for thin sheet and the power to process 25 mm and 30 mm plate in-house. This removed the need to purchase a plasma cutter or outsource thick-material work.

Automation now allows production to start at night so finished parts are ready in the morning. Advanced software and nesting improve material utilization and provide real-time tracking of sheets and scrap. The transition was supported by fast installation, French-speaking technicians, and responsive service.

Plasma made redundant
Thick-plate capability removed the need to buy a separate plasma cutter or outsource the work.
Higher production efficiency
Faster cutting and automated operation improve output, especially across larger production runs.
Cleaner thick-material cuts
BIP reports clean, fast results with less taper and fewer burrs, even on demanding thicknesses.
Confident operator adoption
Operators transitioned successfully from CO₂ technology and learned to troubleshoot many issues independently.
