Professor Andrzej Dragan Visits Eagle Lasers

Professor Andrzej Dragan recently visited the headquarters of Eagle Lasers in Wałcz. Professor Dragan is a physicist, lecturer at the University of Warsaw and the National University of Singapore, a renowned science communicator, author, and one of Poland’s most recognized scientists.

During his visit, Professor Dragan toured Eagle Lasers’ production facility, gaining insight into the design and manufacturing of the company’s fiber laser cutting machines and proprietary automation systems. The program also included a live laser cutting demonstration, showcasing the capabilities of Eagle technology in a real production environment.

Discussions focused on the future of modern manufacturing, artificial intelligence, automation, and the growing role these technologies play in industry. One of the topics was the importance of lasers as a practical application of quantum physics. As Professor Dragan noted:

“Today, the most practical application of quantum theory is neither quantum computers—which we still don’t have—nor quantum cryptography, which is still in its infancy, but rather the ‘ordinary’ laser, which could not exist without quantum theory. While quantum computers, which Poland will not be building anytime soon, receive significant attention, a company manufacturing some of the world’s most technologically advanced industrial lasers has been operating in Wałcz for years.”

The visit highlighted how closely science and industry are connected. Advanced scientific concepts increasingly translate into technologies used in everyday manufacturing, while direct dialogue between researchers and engineers helps shape the future of innovation and industrial development.
