Roots and a clear purpose

Mütze GmbH was founded in 1958 by the grandfather of Christian Mütze, the company’s current CEO.

What began as a small washer producer has grown into an agile supplier serving customers across multiple industrial sectors. The company supplies ready-to-install sheet-metal parts, finished, packaged, and kitted according to customer requirements. Over time, Mütze evolved into a cross-country sub-supplier active in the automotive, furniture, appliance, construction, agricultural machinery, and industrial goods sectors. As the business grew, the production mix became more complex. What was once simple washer production expanded into demanding batches, varied materials, and higher expectations around speed, reliability, and quality. This made internal capacity and process control increasingly important.

“We mainly work from coil, but everything below coil production is handled through laser technology. That’s reflected across our wide product range: smaller parts in larger quantities.” Christian Mütze, CEO, Mütze GmbH

When the old machines stopped being enough

For years, Mütze cut small parts on a 5 kW CO₂ laser. As demand increased and production became more frequent, the old system no longer provided the speed, efficiency, and flexibility required for sustainable growth.

Challenge

The workload had changed, but the technology had not

As production demands increased, the existing CO₂ laser became a constraint on efficiency and responsiveness.

Automation to match output

Mütze paired the laser with Eagle automation: an eTower 244, an automatic nozzle changer, and a conveyor. The goal was to keep the machine running longer, reduce waiting time between programs, and support consistent flow through the factory. Automation allowed the team to handle more work with fewer interruptions. The tower and crane supported smoother material flow, while the automatic nozzle changer reduced manual stops for maintenance and setup changes. For Mütze, the Eagle system is not only a machine investment. It is a productivity platform that supports capacity, reliability, collaboration, and competitiveness in demanding supply chains.

Capacity reclaimed
Higher cutting speed and better throughput helped Mütze regain control over production capacity.
Downtime reduced
Automation reduced setup friction, manual interruptions, and waiting time between programs.
Productivity increased
The 15 kW iNspire helped the company pursue higher output per employee and stronger competitiveness.
Growth supported
The investment contributed to double-digit growth and a stronger market position.

From Capacity Limitations to Sustainable Growth with Eagle
