From a Garage Workshop to Integrated Bakery Equipment Manufacturing

Fab Mac Inc. was founded in Canada in 2003 by Pierre Larouche, following years of experience in industrial bakery equipment, process improvement and customer service.

What began with a lathe, a few tools and a welder in a home garage grew into a specialist manufacturer of complete production lines for croissants, bread and pizza. Today, the company operates a 15,000-square-foot Canadian facility and a 5,000-square-foot site in the United States, employing around 30 people.

Fab Mac has gradually evolved from industrial maintenance and after-sales service into the design and manufacture of high-end bakery equipment. Its team manages the complete process, from engineering and production to installation and after-sales support.

“I started with a lathe, a saw and tools, and I worked. It was really just me, working nights and weekends.” Pierre Larouche, Fab Mac Inc.

The challenge: scaling precision manufacturing without depending on subcontracting.

As Fab Mac grew from service and maintenance into advanced equipment design, the company needed more control over lead times, stainless steel cutting quality, and production flexibility.

CHALLENGE

Subcontracting limited efficiency

Fab Mac needed a faster alternative to subcontracting and full CNC machining, while maintaining sanitary standards for stainless steel production.

Eagle eVision at Fab Mac

Greater Production Control and a Stronger Foundation for Growth

The Eagle eVision has become an important part of Fab Mac’s strategy to increase internal manufacturing capability.

By combining laser cutting with its existing machining and equipment-integration expertise, the company can manage more stages of production itself. This supports faster product development, more consistent quality and a reduced dependence on outside suppliers.

The investment also strengthens Fab Mac’s ability to support future projects, including new equipment developed entirely in-house, continued growth in the United States and planned expansion into European markets.

More Production In-House
Previously subcontracted laser cutting can now be completed internally, giving Fab Mac greater control over schedules, quality and production priorities.
Less CNC Machining
Parts can be laser cut close to their final geometry before CNC finishing, reducing the amount of material and machining time required.
Faster Response to Custom Projects
In-house cutting makes it easier to produce prototypes, individual components and small batches without waiting for an external supplier.
Lower Production Effort
Reduced machining time, fewer external operations and lower energy requirements contribute to a more efficient manufacturing process.

Growth Is Easier When Capability Stays In-House

As Fab Mac expanded across North America and Europe, greater control over quality, lead times, and manufacturing flexibility became essential. Bringing laser cutting in-house helped create a stronger foundation for continued growth. Discover how the Eagle ecosystem can help support your next stage of expansion.
